Patriot....come back round and let's see if you/we can generate a bit of interest. How many would we need to form a good stock club, in your opinion? By the way, I am a former stock broker (fully licensed for all financial products/ insurance/ annuities) with Edward Jones and would look forward to participating with others in a club. I left the business as I was a horrible salesman. I HATED (not strong enough a word) the way people treated me in a suspicious manner, though I don't blame them. They didn't know me from Adam and the whole industry is full of crooks. I wasn't one of the crooks though and I found the distrust very hard to deal with and could not deal with the constant rejection. The folks that do great in that field have my admiration as they wade through negativity and keep their eyes focused on the goal. Anywhoo...would be very interested. tulsa

I'm glad there is a little interest. I am in one at work and what we have done is let one guy manage it.He buys stock under 3 bucks a share and turns it over when it hits $3.50 or so. We have invested about 1000 a piece about (10 guys) and will cash out of the club in 5 years (2 more years to go).You can get out early if you want

My thought was since this is a gambling board that we invest in speculative stock.
I don't care who manages it so long its not me,and we have some sort of contract with whoever manges it.
My idea was for somebody to bring up a stock and debate it then vote on it and buy it. We could start off at a couple of hundred a piece and invest more after 6 mos. or so.
I can ask my buddy on some tips what he does exactley.

I mean its pretty much open to suggestion right now and to see if there is any interest.

I just thought it would make a good vehicle to bullshit with and who knows maybe make a buck..I mean it can't be anyworse than a 5 team parlay.

Let's see if we can get TEN or more folks to offer an indication of interest. I think that speculative stocks can be interesting and at home on this of all places. Speculative/volatile spread over three or more stocks could still get us a return. My goal personally would be to seek high yield, high volatility, but not necessarily in the smallest caps that could fold. I think we could avoid penny stock and still seek high yield/volatility. A couple hundred each would be a nice, 'low' risk effort and ten or more participants would give us enough $ to buy two or three co's without hurting ourselves too much on trading fees. I'd be willing to do that and even willing to go for more $ in the pot per participant too...but I'm flexible.

If you're interested, speak up now folks. tulsa

I'm in for 3-500 initially and we can see how it goes. I would be interested in this as a learning tool as well. I have experienced postivie gains from the market, but I don't dabble with stocks that are too volatile. Someone contact me with more details:

Looks like we have five or six interested right now.....

I don't have any details and I think we should defer to Patriot a little as the implicit head of this effort. Doesn't mean he has to handle the funds and trading, but it was his idea and he is a trusty, wise fellow. Patriot, could you provide some details of how this will work?
Guys, I'm up for $400 or $500. Ya'll want to settle on $400 per person?

We have the following posters interested.

Patriot
OKSOONER
Tulsa
teamogf
bycgan
and maybe rchrschn

Anyone interested needs to speak up and give an indication of participation soon as we are nearing enough folks now that we will be able to do this and I don't want to hem and haw around for a month. Once this starts I think that clubs are usually closed because figuring 'ownership' on buy in becomes very difficult once the ball is rolling. COME ON FOLKS!!! The more the merrier. tulsa
